When Joseph realizes who his brothers are, he sees that they do not recognize him in return. So he decides to set up a test in order to see if his brother's hearts had changed. If they could admit to their faults and refuse to make the same mistakes again, Joseph would know they had changed for the better. Joseph is overjoyed when his brothers pass the test, proving their hearts had changed, so he draws them close. He says, I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into slavery, but don't worry, I'm not seeking revenge. I have seen that your hearts have changed. If you'll remember, Joseph had quite the humbling lesson or two himself. So Joseph tells his brothers, don't even feel guilty about it, because what you meant for harm towards me, God turned around for good. I was able to predict this famine, and I was able to save the lives of countless people throughout the entire region. I will provide for you and for everything that you need. In return, all I ask is that you would allow me to see my father. I would desperately love to see my father Israel again.
