Now, in jail, Joseph still has his God-given ability to interpret dreams. So when Pharaoh begins having disturbing dreams, which he needs interpreted, the prison guards inform officials that Joseph might be able to help. Pharaoh's dreams included seven plump, happy cows, followed by a vision of seven weak, starving, and sickly cows. With God's help, Joseph interprets Pharaoh's dreams, telling Pharaoh that God was using these dreams to inform Pharaoh that for the next seven years, the land around them would enjoy prosperity. However, the following seven years would be years of famine. Pharaoh is so pleased with Joseph, and he places him second in command over all of Egypt, so that Joseph might be able to lead the efforts of growing extra crops and storing them in what archaeologists have actually excavated as store cities around Egypt. Once the years of famine hit, surrounding nations find themselves in trouble and a threat of starvation, so they come to Egypt and ask for the ability to buy food. One day, Joseph recognizes a group of men coming to purchase grain as none other than his older brothers. The older brothers who sold him to slavery were here asking to buy food. More tomorrow.
