👇💥 FULL DEVO BELOW💥👇 It would be understandable, almost expected, for you to be wondering, HOW?! HOW do I do this! How do I keep in step with the Spirit? This doesn't feel like a switch that I can just turn on and off! Well my friend, it is going to take some training! Imagine if any professional athlete were to decide they were going to stop training, stop going to practice, and only show up to the game or match? That wouldn't be very helpful would it! In fact, we might say, that the training is MORE important than the game, because it is what allows us to even be able to see results. (In the same way our personal devotional life is more important than church when we want to see the results in our spiritual life and growth...but that's a different topic for another time!) Lets look at Romans 12... 12 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. We need to let God transform our minds so that the way we think will be more aligned with God's way / Christ's way. David was known and described in Scripture as a man after God's heart and this is what he says in Psalm 119 23 Even princes sit and speak against me, but I will meditate on your decrees. 24 Your laws please me; they give me wise advice... 47 How I delight in your commands! How I love them! 48 I honor and love your commands. I meditate on your decrees... 55 I reflect at night on who you are, O Lord; therefore, I obey your instructions. 56 This is how I spend my life: obeying your commandments. Joshua 1:8-9 6 “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. 9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” We are going to need to make some changes. Placing scripture as a high priority in our life is going to demand more from us. PRAY -REFLECT How important has scripture and changing the way you think been to your spiritual life? How was this emphasized or not emphasized in your spiritual journey up to this point?
