Have you ever eaten your lunch by 8:30am? I have... and my wife's kindness marked me (in the best way!)

Encouragement

Hey, faith-based friends and family, just wanted to give another quick encouragement about kindness. I know I shared one recently, it's just been a recurring thing in my heart and my mind. I remember when I was living in Central America, one particular day I was driving my car to the shop and getting my car repaired was quite a battle there. I would drive about an hour away, I would leave the car there, I'd walk a few miles, get to the bus, take the bus back to my town, and then I'd walk a few miles to get to my house. And I'd leave the car there. Anyways, long process. They'd keep the car and they'd tell me, come pick it up, we've got to order the parts. I'd do the whole process over and over again. But I remember my wife would pack me lunches, she's just very sweet and thoughtful and kind. And I had a bad habit of eating those lunches basically immediately. So one particular time, I remember I'm driving to this town to take the car to the shop and I'd finished my lunch by 8.30am and I felt like a sense of guilt. And so I remember just confessing it to my sweet wife and you know what she said to me? She just said, do you need me to pack you more food? Isn't that beautiful? She said, do you need me to pack you more food? Instead of being like upset, like where's your self-discipline, where's your self-control? Couldn't you wait? She just so sweetly and kindly said, do you need me to pack you more food? And so I just say it as an encouragement, let's just choose radical kindness. I've shared the verse before, but I sure love Romans 2. It's the kindness of the Lord that leads us to repentance. Let's just choose kindness, especially when it's hard. When it's easy as well. So choose kindness. Kindness is so powerful. I think kindness is formed in me more than anything else. I've been the recipient of so much kindness. So blessings to you as you are aware and you receive the kindness of the Lord, but also as you distribute it freely and illogically. Have a great day.
