Faithbase

Good morning and welcome to Praying the Bible as we continue in Psalm 18, now at verse 13. The Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered His voice, Hail stones and coals of fire. He sent out His arrows and scattered the foe, Lifted lightnings in abundance, and He vanquished them. Then the channels of the sea were seen, The foundations of the world were uncovered. At your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils. Heavenly Fathers, we prayed in the section before this. We know that creation is at your command and your tool, all aspects of creation, to manifest your power and your presence and your participation in the history of humanity. We also pray, Lord, as we see here, we know that that can be something that you do both literally in creation and also as we see metaphorically, you can shatter the lives of those who ignore you and deny you, Lord God, and you can bring such catastrophe into the lives of nations and of individuals, people groups, and anyone that you choose, that they must, unless they are just so hardened in their sin, they must confess that you, Jesus Christ, are Lord. So I pray, Lord, this morning, what strikes me this morning is that your powerful actions in history would be used by the power of your Spirit to bring people out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light, out of the old man, that the old man would be killed by your hand, and that you would bring the new creation, lifting people out of that life, that death, into life, life with our Lord Jesus Christ. Lord, the very foundations of the world are uncovered at your rebuke, oh Lord, and so the very foundations that people have, that they build their lives upon, the false promises, the false notions, the lies and deceits of Satan, the attractions and the wickedness of the world, all the things that people build their life upon, primarily upon devotion to self, they build their life upon these things, and so Lord, those foundations will be uncovered at your rebuke, oh Lord, and at the blast of the breath of your nostrils, you will sweep away the falsehoods and you will show these foundations for what they are, that people's lives will be shaken, that nations will be shaken, that people will recognize that they have no foundation apart from the truth of Jesus Christ as King and Lord, and that we must love God and love our neighbor under the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ. So I pray, Lord God, that you would uncover foundations, that you would show people upon which they stand, that they will have to admit where they stand, Lord God, and they will be forced by the power of your Spirit to make that confession of faith in Jesus Christ, forced in the sense that they will be shown the truth and they will not be able to deny it. Lord, that the truth will be so obvious and so bold and so stark to them, that you will use that to draw them again into relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. We pray this in his name, Amen.
