In 2024, may we be good stewards of this life (and health) the Lord has given us!

Well, good morning everybody. It is 830 on New Year's Day and I am headed to the gym this morning and I wanted just to share a word this first day of the year and encourage you to really pray through and think about your health. I know on New Year's Day that every year the number one resolution is I'm going to be healthier. I'm going to eat better. I'm going to exercise more and those are wonderful things. But I think most resolutions barely last to Valentine's Day and part of that is because of what our motivation is. And I can tell you right now my motivation for getting up on New Year's morning and going to the gym, it's not about ego. It's not about how I look. I wear long sleeve stuff when I go to the gym. It's about the fact that this life that I've been given is a blessing from the Lord. My body is a gift. It is a temple of the Lord. I have type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. Two things I can't really control. I can make it worse by not eating right and not exercising and I can hopefully, prayerfully with medication, help keep it at bay by eating right and by exercising and being a good steward of this life that God has given me. I've got a wife and I've got six kids and I've got a church family and one of the few things in this world that I can control is what I eat and how much I move. How much I exercise. So I want to encourage you this year, think about your health, not from a New Year's resolution standpoint, but from a good steward of what God has given you standpoint. Let that be your motivation this year for really trying to just be the healthiest you can be. How much you weigh and all that stuff. Don't worry about those things as opposed to how healthy you are. So I just want to encourage you to have a right gospel, God-centric motivation this year. I pray that you have a prosperous and a healthy 2024. If I can do anything for you, just shoot me a message to let me know. God bless. Have a great day.
