Faithbase

Day four of our journey through the Bible, we are reading Genesis 12 through 15, which is God's call to Abram and his covenant with Abram. After Babel, God knew that he needed to make himself known to these human beings, and so he chose one man who was faithful enough to listen to God. He appeared to Abram. The Bible says that Abram was righteous, but not because of his own doings or his own status. In fact, Abram's only righteousness was found in the fact that he believed God when God spoke. God reveals himself to Abram and tells him, listen, I need to teach the world who I am and teach the world that there is a better way. I'm gonna need you to separate yourself from the world and the family and the culture that you know. So Abram, in faith, agreed. He left the polytheistic culture that he had been a part of and decided that he was gonna trust God no matter what. As he did, he left. He left his lifestyle and his ways behind him. And so in return, God promised a baby.
