Faithbase

Yesterday, with Genesis 1 through 3, we ended with the fall, when Eve and Adam reached for the forbidden fruit, desiring to know everything God had been planning to teach them, but in their timeline. Today we look at Genesis 4 through 7, which is the ramifications of the fall through the flood. What they realized was shame, shame going against their creator, who wanted nothing more than their utter happiness and adoration in return. But God immediately covered their sin. He covered their shame, killing the first sacrificial animal to cover their naked bodies. As we all come to learn later in history, all actions have equal and opposite reactions. Sin has natural consequence. If you light a match, fire is the result. In reaching for autonomy from God, that's exactly what mankind got, separation from God. And that means we do things our way, which is, we also have come to understand is the hard way. As we fully come to understand our actions have consequences, both good and bad. That is how this world works. But God wasn't done with us just yet. He watched. Things did get horribly wrong. We took things and decided that we knew best, but he couldn't stand by and watch us anymore. He couldn't watch us torment one another for a moment longer. A hard, harsh reset with the flood was necessary to overtake the complete and total barbaric corruption and evil that had begun in the world when we did things our way.
