Context is key when you're parenting a five-year-old. I didn't realize quite how specific I should have been when I told the five-year-old that he didn't have to ask for permission to go to the neighbor's yard. In my head, meaning if your ball rolls across the little divide in the yard, you can go get the ball without asking permission. What he took away from that is that he could just let himself into their house unbeknownst to anybody and go upstairs and begin playing because their house is in their yard. Thank goodness we are very good friends with our next-door neighbors. But context is super important. Words by themselves can be completely misunderstood and misconstrued. That's why, as readers of the Bible, it is super important that we understand the context in which it was written. Because we can take little tiny words and make them mean something completely different from what they do. So together, in 2024, we are going to go through the Bible in a year. We are going to look at two to three chapters a day, reading every single little word. But more importantly, I'm going to give a synopsis, either in video, audio, or written form, so that we begin to understand the meta-narrative, the overarching story of the Bible, so all of those words and details begin to make more sense when we understand the context in which they were written. And the really cool thing about that is our understanding of the biblical world begins to make more sense. God himself begins to make more sense. And our relationship with him can go to new heights. So join us in 2024 as we read through the Bible together in a year.
