Good morning and welcome to thinking about the Bible and if you've been watching these videos over the course of the last Few months I guess it's been you might remember That sometime back we talked about the law thinking about the law was the title of that series And I said in that Series at the beginning that the law is part of this covenantal relationship That in that relationship God is sovereign He has a hierarchy of order Christ, of course the head the mediator between God and man that he has Ethics say his law that we're supposed to obey that there are blessings for obedience and punishment for disobedience and that the covenant relationship has continuity and the the character of the covenant is that we enter it by grace where you are brought into the covenant not by any merit that We have it by the gracious act of God, and I think was yesterday. I mentioned the passage from Titus is just another Example I read to you from Ephesians 2 8 through 10, and I just want to read to you this passage in Titus 2 verse 11 and following for the grace of God that brings salvations appeared to all men teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts We should live soberly Righteously and godly in the present age Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ who gave himself for us that we might he might redeem us from every lawless deed and Purify for himself his own special people zealous for good works. And so we are brought into this relationship by grace and then given the responsibility to Perform good works. It's it's because of our love and our gratitude for the gracious salvation that we received really, it's God's process of bringing us into his Kingdom into his family Obviously is not based on anything we do But throughout the scripture over and over Titus and Ephesians and and elsewhere in the scripture We're told that the Relationship doesn't end with just a gracious invitation or gracious drawing unto himself but it continues as we work hard to show the results of that salvation and to Be zealous for good works so that's what I want you to think about today if you will is to think about the good works that are part of the Christian walk really that is the expression of the Christian walk That's the expression of the grace that we receive that we would respond to that Invitation respond to that drawing into this relationship Through good works as we do that this new year I am hoping that you will have that as your objective to as we talked about the other day to be renewed of mind and Renewed of hearts that we can be like Jesus Christ to those around us.
