Back to praying the Bible, Psalm 17, and I think we kind of left off in verses 3 and 4 right through there, so let's go ahead and pick it up at verse 4. Concerning the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer. Uphold my steps in your paths that my footsteps may not slip. Lord God, we do not want to be embroiled in the works of men. We want to be deeply involved in the works of God. We want to see where you are at work, Lord, and join you there. We don't want to be developing the works of men and asking you to come and join us, Lord God. That's backwards. Help us to recognize where you are at work, and then to seek your face, to seek your scripture, to seek the power of your Spirit upon us, to guide us as to how we can join you in that work. You're at work in every place, Lord God. We could go to a distant land, or we could go next door. Lord God, you are at work in each and every place. It is our job to not concern ourselves with the works of men, but to think about you, Lord God, and what you're doing, and how you are at work, and how we can join you in that, Lord God. So we want to stay away, Lord, from the paths of the destroyer. Anything that is apart from you is not pleasing to you, and ultimately is of Satan. To run contrary, to live contrary to you, Lord God, is not to build up, but it is to destroy, and we want to stay away from that, Heavenly Father. We pray that you will uphold our steps in your paths, that you will not allow our foot to slip, that we will be a people of God who are strengthened, that we can go through the difficult situations with joy in our heart, that our steps will not slip, that our feet will be firmly planted in your word, and that we will have the strong foundation that Jesus tells us we will have, that if we live a life according to your teaching, Lord Jesus, we will have a house that withstands the storms and the floods, Lord. So I pray your blessings on this day, and I ask, Lord God, that you will walk with us and keep us in your care, and we pray for blessings on those who need your healing touch this morning, and we pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
