life for us Lord God indeed Yahweh you are the portion of my inheritance of my cup you maintain my lot all that I have everything that you have given us Lord God we acknowledge that this has come from you that we are nothing apart from you yes people can gain material wealth they can gain reputation they can gain uh all kinds of things in this world apart from you but those things come to naught none of those things last beyond the grave beyond death Lord God in in eternity in a very uh purposeful and meaningful eternity with you it is only relationship with you and Jesus Christ that has any value whatsoever Lord God so you are the portion of my inheritance you are what we look to you are the one that we rely upon Lord God in times of difficulty and times of trouble we seek your face and rest in you Lord God the psalmist here says that David says that the lines have fallen to him in pleasant places and we're reminded that in the division of the land for inheritance that there is a a dividing of just a mapping out of the inheritance and so David says I have received a beautiful and wonderful inheritance the lines for the borders of my inheritance have fallen in pleasant places and Lord we acknowledge that the lines of our inheritance that what you have given us is wonderful and beautiful I know there are many people who call upon the name of Jesus Christ who find themselves in dire circumstance perhaps not so much in our nation but around the world there are many who are under persecution and in situations financial situations that are very very difficult I'm thinking of of people that I know who have spent time in India and the lower caste people there in India who know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior have nothing but you Lord Jesus you are the great inheritance you are the one the lines that have fallen to them in pleasant places have to do with their relationship to you and may we heavenly father may we recognize that that is really all that we have because everything that we have in this life will be left behind upon our passing from this realm into the next and again it will be just our relationship with you that we have in eternity I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel my heart also instructs me in the night seasons I have set the Lord always before me because he is my right hand I shall not be moved Lord we do bless you your scripture your word I love your Bible Lord God I love your word I pray that each one of us praying this morning would just have a strong sense of love and and commitment to know your scriptures your counsel Lord God as your spirit rests upon us as your spirit works in our minds and our hearts to enliven the scripture that we come to understand what your Bible says and so Lord help us to bless you to thank you to look to you with joy and look to you with gratitude for your scripture Lord our heart must be inclined to you Lord I remember again that we should not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind and that way that as our mind is is instructed as we are steeped in your word as your holy spirit stirs that remembrance stirs our heart to remember your scripture Lord then we have this counsel in nice seasons as we perhaps lie awake in bed thinking about the day that has gone past thinking about what we have tomorrow as responsibilities Lord I pray that we would be thinking about you that you would always be set before us that you Lord God are at our right hand and and we will not be moved we will not be set into a position of of I guess I'd say a confusion or fear but we would be strong we'd be strong in the power of your might in the strong and have the joy of your salvation Lord God knowing that regardless of what we might encounter in this life you stand firm and we can stand firm in you therefore
