Hey folks today, I want to share with you a verse out of Colossians that has been really helpful for me these last six months We live in a fallen world and so while stewardship was a gift originally To to us as humans To bless this world and bless us It doesn't always feel that way and so this verse has helped me turn my heart to A proper perspective and proper understanding on my stewardship of of God's gifts to me This is Colossians 3 23 through 25. Let's check it out. You can read it below Whatever you do work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord not for human masters Since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward It is the Lord Christ you are serving Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs and there is no favoritism Over the course of my work history, I I'm a people pleaser. I love to make people happy and I and I love to Follow the rules and There are times where that has gotten me into a place where I am NOT really working for the Lord at all. I'm I want to make these people happy and There's a certain degree of that that is that is okay. It's a very small degree It should be much smaller in my heart than it than it is most of the time over the course of my work history, I've also felt like Man, does this job even matter? Does this work? Well, no one will notice if I half-ass this job or if I actually work really hard at it No one will notice Recently after 11 years Serving college students and being in a really fast-paced environment to to pull all the way back and be a stay-at-home dad Sometimes I feel like no one notices the things I do You know, my son is 10 months old my kids are kids and they don't notice right so like Man I can get grumpy about this But this verse has been helpful to me The work I do ought to be directed and guided to please God and God sees everything It's not for anyone else. No one else's approval is nearly as important as the one who has everything to say about my eternity and Eternity and and calls me his son, right I Know that in the end I will receive an inheritance from the Lord For the work that I do to honor him John 12 42 through 43 says this the same time many even among the leaders believed in him Believed in Jesus, but because the Pharisees would not openly acknowledge their faith For fear they would be put out of the synagogue for they loved human praise more than praise from God Their praise their love of praise from their fellow humans fellow people Got in the way of them putting their faith in Jesus In fact, it was it was a number one stumbling block for them that that and and some other things right this is a big deal Friends, where does your desire for human acknowledgement and praise get in the way of? Stewarding your resources well and doing your work for God's glory As you go to prayer Consider this openly and honestly with the Lord God bless you
