For the King - part 14 Stewardship

"23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism." Over the course of my work history there are times where I've felt like, this job doesn't matter, or no one will notice if I do a good-thorough job on this or if I just half-ass it... As a stay-at-home-dad a lot of times no one notices the things I do because I create order where there ought to be order and things function as they should...and I can get grumpy about it! But this verse has helped me stay focused and turns my heart to the Lord. I do this for you Lord, not for human acknowledgement or praise. We should not be driven by human acknowledgement and praise! "42 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved human praise more than praise from God." John 12:42-43 REFLECT Where does your desire for human praise and acknowledgement get in the way of stewarding your resources well and doing your work for God's glory? Consider this openly and honestly with the Lord. Hear his voice of grace and truth.
