Hey, we're back. We're going to be talking about the parable of the steward from a 30,000 foot view from the context of Matthew 24 and the rest and all of 25. We've been talking about for a couple days. You can go back and see those videos or you can just stay right here and jump right in. I'm going to put links to the two chapters below so that you can go look at it. It's a long section so I want you to be able to see all of it. But essentially what Jesus is talking about here is a really heavy concept and where he puts these two parables, one in particular we've been looking at. The heavy concept is this. He says, hey, the temple is not going to last. In fact, the end of time is going to happen and it's going to be crazy and stressful and when I return to you as the second coming of Christ and the final judgment that he talks about at the end of 25 is going to be intense. He's talking about who's going to heaven and who's going to hell and what does that look like. Man, it's heavy. He actually gives some really practical advice on what that looks like. What he does is he talks about the wise and the unwise, about the parable of the ten virgins and then, which is worth a read and worth really sitting with, but then he talks about the parable of the stewards. And essentially he's saying that if we live our lives as stewards of everything that we have in preparation for the Master's return so that we might return back to him what he's given us, it will change the way we live our entire life and set us up for eternity in a way that we couldn't have even begun to think of. And this is what he says. Instead of you living your life for my taking my day and thinking how do I spend my money? Or how do I spend my time? How do I spend my energy? How do I use my car and my tools and my... Instead, we take the posture of how do I today use God's money that he's given me? How do I use God's energy that he's given me? How do I use the time that God has given me for his kingdom and his purposes? It's a reinvestment, if we can think about it that way. Well, this actually rightly orders the entire universe for us. It takes us out of the center. It takes me out of the middle of the universe and it puts God and God's agenda into the middle that we are meant to revolve around. And this changes the game. Stewardship, thinking of life as a stewardship of God's good and perfect gifts can change our whole life. I want you to reflect today, friends, on what are the things that you consider as yours and you don't really think of them as God's. Reflect on this. Invite God in to sit with you in that and I pray that you experience the God of grace and mercy and peace.
