ππ₯ FULL DEVO BELOWπ₯π Take a look at the context of the parable of the stewards - sandwiched between Matt 24 (End of Days, second coming of Christ) and the end of Matt 25 (Final judgment). https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matt+24-25&version=NIV In the middle he tells two parables, one about 10 bridesmaids who ought to be wise as they await coming bridegroom - we know this to be Jesus. Second he tells a parable about 3 stewards who have been given a gift (like we talked about yesterday). And that they need to use that gift in the world in which they live for the purpose of growing it for the master. Living life as a steward of the good gifts that God has given you, receiving everything as a gift and not as an owner, dynamically changes the way that you interact with what you have. Suddenly, instead of deciding how to spend YOUR money, and YOUR time, and YOUR energy, you are asking what to do with the money GOD gave you, the time GOD gave you, and the energy GOD gave you. It takes the SELF out of the center of the universe and rightly places GOD at the center and GOD'S AGENDA at the center! It changes the way that you live each day, which interestingly, changes the way that you will ultimately face the final judgment! With God as your witness to your life, you have stewarded what he has given you! Jesus actually tells the disciples in Matthew 24:42, "Therefore, keep watch because you do not on what day your Lord will come." which is reiterated right before he tells the parable of the steward (25:13). Living this way can change our whole life. REFLECT What areas of your life do you currently treat as, YOURS? PRAY Invite God into your reflection time. Invite him to speak to you about whatever has come to mind. Today, ask God and consider how can you use all of you have for God's glory and building his Kingdom?
