Hey, good morning, Faith Base. Happy Saturday morning. So, last night, Friday, I recorded this video. But as you now can tell, there is no sound to that video for some weird unknown reason. I was connected to CarPlay in the car and it didn't record the audio. I didn't know that. I'm standing outside. Here's the scenario. I was standing outside the United Methodist Church in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Our son was performing a musical concert there with a pretty elite adult choral group called the Fort Worth Chorale. So, his high school choir group and the Fort Worth Chorale were putting on a Christmas performance at the United Methodist Church. I was moved by the music. Always am. I'm a music guy myself. I thought, man, standing outside of this church after this incredible concert, I thought we might just reflect on the significance of music in our worship and how it has the power to transform us because we live busy lives. That's a fact. Sometimes, it is easy to overlook the importance of music in our worship. Sometimes, it's easy to overlook worship. We just are so busy and we get caught up in the routineness of life and we become distracted by daily challenges and sometimes opportunities. But music, music has a unique ability to stir our emotions and remind us of the goodness and the faithfulness of God. It has the power to rejuvenate our spirits and bring us back to a place of intimate connection with our Heavenly Father. That is the power of music. It always has been that way and we read about it in the Bible. So, when you look into God's Word and you look at the significance of music in worship, turn your attention to places like Psalms, right? Specifically, Psalm 150 verses 3-5. It's there that the psalmist writes, praise him with the sounding of the trumpet and praise him with the harp and the lyre and praise him with the timbrel and dancing and praise him with the strings and pipe and praise him with the clash of cymbals and praise him with resounding cymbals. It's a verse that beautifully captures the diversity of music and the range of musical instruments that can be used to express our worship to God. It's a reminder. It's one of many verses that reminds us that our worship is not limited to a specific style, even though some people try to tell you it is. It's not. Or a form. But rather it is an outpouring of our hearts using the gifts and the talents that God has blessed us with. And so, on this Saturday morning, as we prepare for worship on Sunday, I thought it might be important to remind us of the power of music in our worship. That we can all strive to incorporate music into our daily lives in an intentional way, right? Not only within the walls of churches, but in our homes, in our workplaces, in our communities, allowing music and God's word to uplift us, encourage us, bring some joy as we praise our Heavenly Father. It resonates in our hearts as it does in the heart of God. And so, remember, music has the ability to uplift and inspire and draw us closer to the Creator. And as a gift and blessing to you on this beautiful Saturday morning, it was supposed to be last night on Friday, but on this Saturday morning, let me give you just a touch of what these incredible kids did last night at this awesome concert. Be blessed and be great and be encouraged by this today. They broke their rock, and saw a star shining in the east beyond them far, and to the earth its daybreak light, and so it continued both day and night. He is the King of Israel. O come, O come, O come, O come, O come, O come, to Bethlehem. Where is the King? Amen.
