good morning and welcome to this episode of praying the Bible and we are back to Psalm 7 and we'll complete the Psalm verses 14 through 17 let me read that for you behold the wicked brings forth iniquity yes he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood he made a pit and dug it out and has fallen into the ditch which he made his troubles will return upon his own head and his violent dealings shall come down on his own crown I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High Heavenly Father in this psalm we have been reminded of the character of those who reject you a character of the wicked and we must remember Lord that saying that says but for the grace of God there go I because Lord it is only by your grace that you have drawn us out of the kingdom of darkness it is only by your choosing us that we have relationship with you in Jesus Christ Lord the world is full of wickedness there are many who choose to do wrong there are many who have remained in the condition of a sinful nature and the behaviors that they exhibit Lord the wicked bring forth iniquity they conceive trouble and they bring forth falsehood Lord we should expect that from the non-Christian yes the image of God and every human being means that every human being is capable of objective good and yet Lord that is not the norm that is not what we should expect from the non-Christian Lord it is the leavening influence of the gospel of Jesus Christ as the followers of our Lord Jesus Christ influence their society influence their culture that leavening presence Lord God has been something that has kept this nation from falling into a cultural quagmire a cultural pit I guess you'd say Lord and I just pray that we would understand that the wickedness that we see around us today we should expect that we should expect that because those who have rejected you those who will have not turned to you Lord Jesus Christ their nature is wicked their nature is sinful Lord God Lord the wicked make a pit they dig it out and Lord you use the means of their own behaviors because they fall into that pit Lord they find and I think most of us know people who their bad behaviors catch up with them I guess they say the scripture says your sins shall find you out as Moses said at one point and so we know Lord God that that is one of the principles of your creation that that even the psalmist talks about this many times not just here but how those who are wicked fall into their own devices because that is part of the judgment against them indeed Paul tells us in the book of Romans in the letter to the church in Rome that one of the judgments of sin is just the deep immersion in wickedness that people fall into Lord God scripture says Lord that the sinner's trouble shall return upon his own head and his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown and Lord we pray that will be the case we pray that you will bring judgment upon those who are acting in evil are acting wickedly and sinfully Lord God Lord we must also pray that you would draw them through that means of judgment and devastation of their lives Lord God that you would use that to awaken their heart that your spirit would at that point draw them unto you Lord Jesus to be saved that's really our hope those things are up to you Lord God our job is to to sow the seed to everyone and anyone that we possibly can tell the gospel of Jesus Christ to Lord so we know that the wicked will pay a price we know that those who are evil according to your scripture will often fall into their own pit and fall into their own devices Lord God but we will praise the Lord according to his righteousness we pray you according to your righteousness because you are the righteous God as we think back on what this psalm has said and it may be troubling to some of us as we think about how the psalmist is crying out for judgment against the wicked over and over Lord God but you are the righteous and just God and you will not bring punishment on anyone unjustly and so Lord we praise you for your righteousness we praise you and sing praise to the name the Lord Most High Yahweh Most High we thank you Almighty God that we have relationship with you and Jesus Christ that we can stand in the shadow of your of the great rock that we can stand and under the protection of the wings of our Lord Lord we thank you that you do bring judgment we thank you that you're a just and good God we thank you that we are righteous counted as righteous in Jesus Christ we thank you that you are righteous and we give praise to your name we thank you Lord God for this day we pray that you watch over us this day we pray these things in Jesus name Amen and thanks for being with me today and I'll see you again tomorrow
