Church Day!!

A few thoughts from my 2nd daughter, Niya, and a glimpse into my family… 👇💥 FULL DEVO BELOW💥👇 I love the honesty that children bring to theology, and yes, I do mean theology. James Luther Adams once said, “Everyone is a theologian, either conscious or unconscious, in the sense that everyone has some concept of reality, of the demand of reality, and of those elements in reality that support or threaten meaningful existence.” And this includes children! While we may not want to take the finer points of our theology from children, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” ~Matthew 18:3-4 The ESV Study Bible says it beautifully. “The humility of a child consists of childlike trust [and] vulnerability…” So my dear, sweet, Niya can in beautiful vulnerability say, “We go to church so if we learn about God and be saved and go to heaven!” There is certainly more to the story, but we can enjoy the simplicity of a child’s theology and understanding about the importance of being together on a Sunday in a church community.
