Waiting on God's timing can be incredibly difficult to do. If you're someone who struggles with this, why do you think that is?

Hey everybody, Josh here. Today we're gonna be talking about timing. I've been reading Ecclesiastes and I came across chapter 3 verse 1 this week that talks about how on the earth there's a right time and season for everything. This has corresponded really well with my life recently as my wife and I are expecting our first child. We're super excited about this but it's been a rough season for us because we lost our first baby in the month of March and so as we've been praying and as we've been expecting God to meet us and answer our prayers, when we found out that we had a chance to be parents again, we got super excited. We wanted to be able to say thank you Lord and all of these things but we are still mourning and we are still realizing that even as you enter into new seasons and periods of life, sometimes it's still okay to mourn things from seasons past. And so I began to think about what this idea of timing means in my life and it became this very clear and important point to recognize that things take time, right? God's seasons don't move at the pace at which I would always like them to. And so this has been something that I've inquired a lot about in my own personal time but it had people ask me as well. One of the big things that we've been getting as we've been kind of doing these videos and talking about what it looks like to have a social media presence online that is specific towards furthering the gospel, people are asking us, hey how do we do this? How do we start this? How do we get there? And this led me to kind of these two important realizations that I felt like were important to share. And the first one is that you just got to start. Starting somewhere is supremely important because you got to figure out what you're good at and you got to figure out what you suck at. And we have made hundreds of videos over the past three or four years, my brother and I, and we've been talking about this forever because we just figured, hey we've got the capacity to make videos, we enjoy making them, maybe this will bless some people for God's kingdom, so we're just gonna do it. And I think to date we've made over two or three hundred videos, most of which have never eclipsed the idea of 30 or 50 views. But that's okay because we've gotten some mail that has let us know that these videos have touched people's lives and we just figure if we can make a small impact in our corner of the globe, that's important. So starting is supremely important because if you don't start, you're never gonna know where to go, how to finish, how to be successful, or do well. Second thing is patience, man. The thing that we suck at most as Millennials is having patience because we live in a culture of instantaneous gratification. We expect results overnight, we expect things to be done, we expect numbers, we expect money, we expect success, we expect different things of different people that they're not always ready to give us at different times in our lives. And so you have to be patient. Whether you're building things for the kingdom or just walking through and stuff in your own life, if you're not having patience and you're not walking with the Lord and trying to figure out and discern his timing in those things, you're totally gonna fail. So the two big things. The first one, start. Whatever it is you want to start. Stop waiting, stop wasting time, just get into it and go. Second thing, have patience. Understand that there's gonna be hiccups along the way. Commit to something 24, 36 months instead of just two or three months and getting frustrated and quitting. The third thing is kind of a bonus. Reach out for help, man. There are people who have gone before you and who've had great success. Don't be afraid to ask for help and ask for other people to speak some truth and good wisdom into your life. If you do those three things, I promise you the Lord will meet you where you're at and you'll be able to see some modicum of success as the Lord defines it. Maybe not necessarily as you do, but it's important to at least try and go out there and make a difference. So be sure to follow us.
