Good morning and welcome to Praying the Bible. We're now in Psalm 5. We'll read verses 1 through 3 and pray those scriptures together here. To the chief musician with flutes, a Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O Lord. Consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I will pray. My voice you shall hear in the morning, O Lord. In the morning I will direct it to you and I will look up. Heavenly Father, we pray again this morning that you will hear our words, that you will bless us with your presence by the power of your Holy Spirit, that you will consider, that you will give a thought to the time we spend before you in prayer and the time that we spend pouring over your scripture, meditating and attempting and learning from your scriptures. Your Spirit enlivens our hearts to understand, Lord God. And this morning, Lord, we pray that you will give heed to the voice of our cry. Lord, we have many things in our heart this morning. Some of us have loved ones who do not know you, Lord Jesus, and so we cry out to you. We pray that you give heed to our cry for the souls of those in our families, extended families who do not know you as Lord and Savior. Lord, give heed to our cry as we are distraught by the wars that are raging around the world, not just in Ukraine and in Israel, but in parts of Africa and elsewhere. There is conflict ongoing, so we pray that you give heed to the voice of our cry. My King, my God, it is to you that we pray, to no one else, Lord. There is no one else. We can petition governments and we can write editorials, we can do all kinds of things, but it is only to you, Almighty God, the omnipotent ruler of the universe, the one who made all things and controls all things. It is to you that we pray, and we do so with confidence, knowing that in the name of Jesus Christ, you will hear us. We pray to you and ask that this morning as our voice is lifted in prayer, that you'll hear us this morning, Lord God. And I pray not just this morning, but every morning we'll direct our prayers to you, that we will know that you're the one to whom we should pray. We will have full confidence that when we do pray to you, Lord God, that you hear us and respond. And Lord, that we will look up, we will have our countenance lifted, that we will know the joy of relationship with you, that we will know the joy of confidence as we come before you in prayer. Lord, answer our prayers, we pray, as we pray to you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
