Hey faith-based friends and family blessings to you today it recently I was at a men's retreat in the evenings when these great bonfires and Incredible conversations just time sharing your hearts, but in the morning We would throw a log on the embers and even though it didn't appear hot as soon as the logs Takes the embers they would light up Immediately flames would begin and I say that to say What does it look like for us to fan into flame? What's in our hearts our hunger for Lord or spiritual giftings Second Timothy, this is Paul's last book before his death He's in Mamertine prison and this is like a cold wet dark dungeon Well, we know that Paul had what we call it prison epistles for Lehman Philippians Colossians Ephesians Paul has changed a Roman guard but this is more like an apartment type unit that he's in now Mamertine where he wrote Second Timothy is like again like a prison dungeon and he's writing and he's saying things that are he knows are most important because He knows his death is imminent And he says things to Timothy just communicating his love and affection calling him his spiritual son But then he says this in verse 6 He says fan in the flame the gift that you receive with the laying on of his hands And he talks about this gift of power. So let's encourage you fan into flame Whatever a gift is Lord has given you it's not a it's not a spirit of fear. It is a spirit of self-discipline I love when breakthrough happens like that, right, but it seems the normative method for breakthrough is the fruit of self-discipline Right the fruit of hard work Making all those little choices of honoring and doing what's right stewering the moments Well courage it to what you need to do to fan in the flame. Maybe what you need is for physical rest Maybe what you need to do is just make sure that you're filling your mind with things that matter Maybe you need to be developing the appetites for things that matter because sometimes we develop these appetites for things that are Oh Subordinate right less important less valuable kind of like me when I get into the bad habit of eating candy, right? If I'm not in the habit, then I don't do it but fan in the flame Your heart for Lord your hunger for Lord and your spiritual gifting for Lord blessings you today
