👇💥 FOLLOW ALONG💥👇 11:31 Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there. 32 The days of Terah were 205 years, and Terah died in Haran. 12 Now the Lord said --- to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” “4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran." Amidst all the talk about blessing, we can miss what God was asking Abram to give up…country, kindred, his father’s house. 1. Country - Source of provision, and peace of mind: As a shepherd he needed to know the ins and outs of the land, water access, etc. for his flocks. Moving would remove this knowledge that had been hard learned and handed-down. This was for survival and the thriving of his livelihood. 2. Kindred - Issues of security: his family not only provided a critical relational need, community, but were also a source of protection and security for each other. 3. Father’s house - relationship and family connection; He was leaving his family inheritance and the place where his father, as the patriarch and leader of his family, had settled and was buried. REFLECT I want you to notice your feelings when you hear about Abraham’s story. How does that hit you? PRAY Talk to the Lord about this story of faith in motion. What might the Lord be telling you? Where is faith in motion in your life? How are you responding to the Lord?
