Good morning and welcome to our morning prayer time as we continue to pray the Bible. I'm going to read to you from Psalm 2 verses 4 through 6, which we'll be praying that section of Psalms 2 this morning. But the one who rules in heaven laughs, the Lord scoffs at them, then in anger he rebukes them, terrifying them in his fierce fury. For the Lord declares, I have placed my chosen King on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain. Let's pray together. Heavenly Father, we sometimes forget that you are not only the ruler of the universe in goodness and grace and mercy, but you do bring judgment. Indeed, that is part of your goodness, that is part of your mercy, that you end the machinations of those who rail against you, those who are angry at you, Lord. You scoff at those who claim to hold sway over others in an omnipotent fashion, they claim, in a way that is God-like, Lord God. You scoff at that, you laugh at that, and in your mercy you bring that to a conclusion. Lord, we pray that you will, indeed, by the power of your might, bring to an end the oppression of your people around the world, in various countries, indeed even in our own nation. We have begun to see an overt opposition, an aggressive opposition against those things that are true, the scripture, the faith of those who embrace Jesus Christ as the only true Lord and Savior. Lord, you scoff at those who would ridicule your ways. You, Lord, will bring judgment, and we pray, Lord God, that you will rebuke them, that you will terrify those who deny you, Lord God, that they will see the truth. Lord, we pray that you will do so in a fashion that will bring them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, that we as your people will be available, will be there when your terrifying anger is evident to them, that we can speak the truth of the gospel to them, and that they will be ready to accept the Lord Jesus as Savior, as Lord. So Lord, we don't ask that you forego your rebuke, we do not ask that you forego your terrifying presence, but indeed, Lord, we pray that you would do so as a means of furthering your kingdom, as a means of furthering the reign and the rule of Jesus Christ, as you say here, Lord, in your scripture to us, that you've placed your chosen King on the throne in Jerusalem, and we believe, Lord God, that your chosen King is Jesus the Christ. We pray, Lord, that his lordship, his majesty would be recognized by all those who now deny him, Lord God, indeed that even us who claim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior would recognize that every aspect of our life must be brought under his rule and his reign, Lord God, not sometime in the future, but today, right now, that we must live a life that is pleasing to our Lord Jesus Christ, that he is indeed your chosen King, he is indeed upon the throne, all authority in heaven and earth has been given to him, and Lord God, your people, your church is to be the representation of Jesus Christ in this world, in this realm today. So Lord, we pray that your majesty and your might would be evident, we pray that you would sweep away those who deny you, not to eternal damnation, Lord God, but first of all, give them opportunity to express that faith in Jesus Christ, that they would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, Lord. We pray, Lord, that your majesty and your power would be not denied, but would be acknowledged by all those on earth, those who now refuse to submit to you, Lord God, we pray that you would draw unto yourself. Lord, I just ask that this day, as we are reminded each day of all the things that go on in this world that are not pleasing to you, I would pray, Lord, that we would be, I guess I'd say, re-energized to live a life that is pleasing to you, Lord, far too many of us live in a way that is displeasing to you, Lord God, we acknowledge that you are the ruler of the universe, and yet we often don't live like it, so I pray, Lord, that you would empower us, your scripture says that you give us both the will, or the desire, and the ability to do your good will, and we pray for that this morning, Lord God, that you would bless us in that way. Watch over us and keep us, we pray, bless us, we ask, and we pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
