Shouldn't I just be content with what I have? 1 Corinthians 14:1

Hey faith-based friends and family, blessings to you today. Hey, today I'd like to give you a permission that maybe you already know you have. I think I shared in one of my videos that when I was going through some hard things, grieving, I didn't actually give myself permission to feel sad, but it was the healthiest thing I could do. But this is permission to do something different. I've read the verse so many times, but it was probably eight years ago where it came alive, and it's 1st Corinthians 14 1. Now remember, Paul's letters to Corinthians is called assertion, response, or point, counterpoint, meaning Paul is responding to a letter he's received from the Corinthians, and he's writing, addressing the things they've mentioned. So we don't have this letter. This letter is not in existence now, but you know, he jumps around from subject to subject. You know, he says things like, now concerning virgins, now concerning food sacrifice to idols, now concerning propriety and worship. These things are like, well, where did that come from? Again, he's responding to things they have said to him. But he says this, right after the famous love chapter 13, chapter 14, verse 1, he says, now eagerly desire the spiritual gifts. And the verse continues, but I say that to say, we not only have permission, but it's even commanded. I just remember thinking like, well, that's not my spiritual gift. I don't have that. You know, they have that. I just need to be content with what I have. Well, yes, let's be grateful. Let's use what we have for the Lord. But we're not only like invited to seek more, it's like commanded eagerly desire. Isn't that incredible? He gives us permission, and then encourages us to eagerly desire all the more. So I encourage you, eagerly desire the spiritual gifts. Now, seek the Lord more than we seek the gifts. Absolutely, the gifts are the way he uses, and it's for his kingdom, and his purpose. But I want you to know that we've been commanded to eagerly desire the spiritual gifts. I believe this is not only applicable to the Corinthians who received the letter, but for us as the body. Eagerly desire the spiritual gifts. Blessings to you today. May the Lord just continue to use your gifts, but just feign into flame hunger for him, and even activate new gifts in your life.
