The Lord's Prayer, Matthew chapter 6 verse 10, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. That is not theologically hard to understand. The word will means God's desire, what God wants, how God wants things to go on earth within our lives, within our churches, within our community, our country, all of it. It's God's desire for us as individuals and God's desire for our families and our churches. When we pray your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, one, we are acknowledging everything in heaven in the presence of God and also the heavens. It is done exactly by the will of God. When God says the waters are going to go this way, they're going to go this way. When God said the planets are going to rotate like this, they're going to rotate like this. Now here's what makes our relationship with God so unique is that within the boundaries of his sovereignty, he's given us the freedom to obey or disobey and that doesn't negate his sovereignty and his sovereignty doesn't negate free will. That's a whole separate conversation because it all falls under the power of God, his relationship with us. He commands us to obey, to live out his will on this earth, but like any father, he wants us to choose to do that because we love him. Not because we're robots, but because we have a heavenly father who loves us. So when we pray our father who is in heaven, holy is your name, your kingdom come, now we pray your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, we are giving God not the word permission. It's not the right word. It's our obedience, our allegiance to doing whatever his will is, his desire is for our life on this earth just as his will is happening in the heavens. So I want to encourage you today when you really think through and pray through that phrase, your will be done, think through what that means, think through the sacrifice that we have to make, think through the humility we have to have to be able to view the world with a gospel-centric vision. That's that whole kingdom aspect of it, his kingdom first, meaning now his desire and his will will flow through us so we can love and serve others and help spread the kingdom of God, the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world so that his will and desire can be done on earth as it is in heaven. If I can pray for you in any way, if I can help you in any way to be able to do that, please shoot me a message and let me know. God bless. Have a great day.
