All right, so I have an 18-month-old little boy. His name is Junior, and he is anything but gentle. As we continue on, kind of in the fruit of the Spirit, the idea of gentleness is something that is entirely foreign to my kiddo, and I think for a lot of us it's a concept that would be pretty foreign if we didn't have such a clear picture in the person of Jesus, right? Jesus's response to violence from the Roman authorities and from the Jewish leaders and from the teachers of his time was specifically to practice this notion of gentleness, and it's something that we get the opportunity to emulate as his followers, right? We get the chance to be able to be people who practice living a different style of life, who don't respond in anger, who don't respond with violence, but instead are hyper-intentional about living a life that is counter to the culture around them. Look for ways in your life today to be able to practice gentleness, not only towards those whom you love, but to the difficult people to love as well.
