Hey faith-based friends and family blessings to you today. Today I'd like to share briefly about Psalm 63. It's one of David's psalms. The context, the context gives a lot of meaning and weight to David's words. David's son Amnon has just raped his daughter Tamar. His other son Absalom murders Amnon. So one son rapes a daughter. The other son murders that son, his brother, who raped his sister. Now this brother Absalom who just murdered his brother is chasing David to kill King David so he can take over the kingdom. And in Psalm 63 while his son is chasing him to kill him, David's hiding in the desert probably in a cave and he says things like, my soul thirsts for you God. He says my soul clings to you. He says I'll be satisfied as with the richest of foods. He says things like your love is better than life. Isn't this incredible? David's hunger for the Lord. I mean literally he's thirsting for God in the midst of the desert, in the midst of this tragedy and grieving and suffering and anguish of soul. And I say that as a challenge. I receive it as personally as a conviction but our spiritual hunger is very different than our physical hunger. Our physical hunger grows when we don't eat but our spiritual hunger is the opposite. It increases as we do consume. It's the other opposite. I eat a lot of food my appetite suppressed but as I consume more of the word and I remember the truths of his goodness, of his character, of his promises, of his love, my hunger increases. I just want to encourage you to be feeding the right things. If the enemy can't can't defeat us with temptations, like sensual temptations, then he's gonna try to convince us that God is not that good. And David makes it so clear when he says in this desert position, just broken hearted, he says your love is better than life. Let our hearts and minds be more convinced than ever that his love is better than life. We'll be feeding our minds with this truth with all the evidence from creation and all the support of Scripture. His love is better than life. Blessings and love to you today.
