Hey, good morning everybody. Before we get into the actual Lord's Prayer, I want us to look at how Jesus addressed prayer in verse 7 and 8, because before we get in the mode of the how, we need to know the why, and he tells us the why in verses 7 and 8. He says, and when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. So do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. See, we don't pray to inform God what we need, to inform God of our hurts and our struggles and all the things that are weighing heavy on our heart and mind. See, God already knows those things. The purpose of prayer is relationship. The purpose is the conversation, not the what of the conversation, but the conversation itself between you and the Lord. So he says, don't be like those that use big words and try to impress everybody. Listen, there's nothing wrong with using deep theological words. Use the vocabulary that you have. The point that Jesus is making is we don't pray to impress other people. We don't pray to try to show off our spiritual growth to other individuals. The purpose of prayer is our connection with the one we are praying to. That's the point. It's all of about relationship. So this morning, I want to encourage you to spend some time in prayer. And don't worry about the words you use. Don't worry about whether or not somebody else around you would think that it's Sunday school worthy. What matters is the person you're talking to. You are literally having a conversation with the Creator of the universe, who is also your Heavenly Father. So be intimate, be personal. Again, as he says in verse 8, he already knows. So you're not informing God of anything, but you are talking to him about it. And that's what's most important, to be in conversation with the Lord. So I'm encouraging you to spend some time in prayer this morning. Listen, if I can do anything for you, shoot me a message. Let me know. Have a great day. God bless.
