We're back thinking about salvation. I told you in our series that I would complete the series with a look, at least a brief look, at the comprehensive nature of salvation and I needed to come back and do that. I have decided however that the comprehensive nature of salvation requires its own series so I'm just going to touch on that what that is all about in this conclusion to thinking about salvation I want to read to you from Galatians 3 26 through 29 I'll read from the New Living Translation for you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus and all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ like putting on new clothes there is no longer Jew or Gentile slave or free male and female for you are all one in Christ Jesus and now that you belong to Christ you are the true children of Abraham you are his heirs and God's promise to Abraham belongs to you now it's common I guess I could say for some folks to want to spiritualize this and say well it's the spiritual blessings that were extended to Abraham that we receive everything else goes to ethnic Jews and that's a whole discussion that we're not going to get into about Jews and and and Judaism and so forth obviously Christian people Christianity is something that grew out of the Jewish religion the Jewish people Jesus is a Jew Paul and all the Apostles were Jews and so it's not it's not that we are somehow supplanting the Jewish people we have been grafted into the nation of Israel we've been grafted into the true Israel who is Jesus the Christ and that's a whole nother series we could talk about how Jesus is the true Israel the true son of Abraham the true son of David and so forth but what we just read here tells us that as those who are in Jesus Christ we are the heirs of Abraham's promises and the promises given Abraham were comprehensive Paul says in Romans that the promise to Abraham was that he would inherit the whole world and of course we do that as we take the gospel into the world sharing the good news of Jesus Christ as as Lord and Savior and bring people into that by the power of the Spirit we're simply the messengers we don't bring anybody into the into the fold but we do share the message of salvation and by the power of the Holy Spirit God brings people as he sees fit and the message is not simply your soul is saved from hell but that your entire life is new so that as you bring your life in your arena of activity under the Lordship of Jesus Christ unit you can expect the blessings of one who is an heir of Abraham that's comprehensive that means that your life should be better your life should be very different and should be better in the sense that everything that you do is part of the plan of God you have a role in this cosmic drama now as one of the players you might say in the kingdom of God that in this grand adventure of the Eschaton Adam who is you might say reconquering the world for the sake of God we have a part to play in that and so our efforts in this life our participation in this life has real consequences not simply we're waiting for the end where that's not what it's about what it's about is being true children of Abraham and we are his heirs and God's promised Abraham belongs to us so that's just an introduction to the comprehensive nature of salvation and as I said we're gonna have to have another series on that down the road a piece until then be thinking about salvation thinking about the comprehensive nature of salvation and how it is that the promises given to Abraham are also promises given to you
