What does it mean to be justified by Jesus blood? It means that there has been a sacrifice made that we are reckoned as no longer guilty of sin.

Back again thinking about salvation verse 9 of Romans chapter 5 much more than having now been justified by his blood we should be saved from wrath through him what does it mean to be justified by Jesus blood this is really a key element of course this is what we talk about being washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ and just in this series obviously we don't have a lot of time in each episode trying to keep it around three minutes or so but to be justified by the blood of Jesus Christ means that there has been a sacrifice made that we are reckoned as no longer guilty of sin yes we committed sin yes we are born in sin we talked about how we have a nature due to the fact that we are in the line of Adam we have a nature that is a sin nature but Jesus Christ being a perfect human being a perfect man died that we might have our sins forgiven we are justified we are reckoned as not guilty we are reckoned as having been washed clean and made righteous so the blood of Jesus Christ was shed it was a sacrifice for sin not his own sin for our sin and we have been saved by that from the wrath of God God's wrath is justified in the sense that those who sin against him deserve punishment Jesus Christ of course never sinned and so he was able to stand in our stead now he didn't have to die for his own sin that's why he could do this he was sinless and so it required someone who is not only sinless but also of such great value that he could die for the sins of all those who he would call to himself and who would come to know him as Lord and Savior so the blood of Jesus Christ was shed in our place in other words he died so that we don't have to die he was punished so that we don't have to receive that punishment for sin and he offered himself as a substitute for us and that spares us from the wrath of God that's the only way that we can be spared from the wrath of God and doesn't matter what you think about the fairness of wrath that God would show towards those who reject him doesn't matter if you think that's fair or not God's the one who decides what is right what is wrong and in this case he is willing to take the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as a replacement for us and so we're justified and we are washed clean by his blood and saved from God's wrath in that manner we'll come back to this next time I want you to spend some time today thinking about salvation thinking about your own salvation in Jesus Christ and how much we will we owe him everything we owe him our entire life and that's why we're called to work hard to show the results of what Jesus Christ has done for us we are called to express a gratitude of obedience and we'll be talking about that as well later on in this series but for now just think about the wonderful sacrifice that Jesus Christ made that you and I might have life
