Well, good morning everybody. We continue our study of Psalms 23. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, he leads me to the quiet waters. In the Hebrew, that word actually means the still waters, but it's the same thing, because it was extremely important that when the shepherd brought the sheep to the stream, in the south we call it a creek, when he brought them to the creek to get something to drink, it was extremely important that the waters were still and they were quiet for a couple of reasons. Number one, rushing water was dangerous for the sheep. Again, it's not that they were dumb, they were just a little hard-headed, and when they got thirsty they would take off running towards the water, and it was part of the shepherd's job to kind of hold them back and keep them safe, and if the water was rushing, if the water was dangerous, they could fall in, they could drown, so it was important for the water to be still. And also, if you've ever gone hiking or anything like that, you know that the water that's rushing is moving, and then when it gets still on the other side of that, you can have some clean water. Now, standing water and still, quiet water are two different things. We can have that whole camping conversation about standing water and still water from a rushing stream, but it was, the whole point for the shepherd was to keep them safe, give them nourishment. That you have a Heavenly Father today that knows how to keep you safe, he knows how to give you nourishment. Now, it goes back to I shall not want, and understanding that word want is better understood from our standpoint, especially an American standpoint, of what we need, not what we want on our Christmas list. That we have a Heavenly Father who, our great shepherd, he knows how to keep us safe, he knows the right waters to lead us to to keep us safe, and to also give us the nourishment that we need. Listen, whether that spiritual, emotional, mental, or even physical, he knows all of our needs. He knows exactly where we're, for the lack of a better term, deficient, and he's able to give us what we need. So, if you're struggling today with wondering where your needs are going to come from, with a busyness all around you, know that you have a Heavenly Father, a great shepherd, who knows where the still waters are. He knows how to lead you beside them so that you can be safe and get the nourishment you need. Again, if I can do anything for you, if I can pray for you or serve you in any way, shoot me a message to let me know. God bless. Have a great day.
