It is a requirement that we believe that God the almighty is who he says he is.

Hello and welcome back to Thinking About the Bible. We're thinking about salvation. And I wanted to pick up right where we left off in the previous episode and talk a little bit more about the requirement that we believe that God, the Almighty God, Yahweh God, is who He says He is. And one of the things that the Bible makes very clear is that God is the Creator. And as Creator, He has the right, He has the privilege of deciding how His creation should be used, how it should be run. And also, we have the obligation, I guess you could say, of allegiance to God, loving God, and honoring Him. So if we go back to the beginning once again in the book of Genesis, we see that that was the sin that Adam and Eve committed. They determined that they would make their own law, that they would be their own gods. And that's what Satan told them, well, you don't need God, you can decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong. And that's what the whole knowledge of good and evil was about, was deciding for themselves what was right and what was wrong. And that's the same sin, that's the primary sin of every human being on earth, that they want to decide for themselves what is right and what is wrong. And just say, well, if there is a God, then, you know, I don't really, I'm not gonna do what He says, but if we accept, if we believe that God is who He says He is, we should immediately recognize we have a duty to obey Him. We have a duty to serve Him because He is our Creator, and He has the proper expectation of love and honor and service to Him on our part. So those are some of the things we need to understand if we want to begin this path down towards salvation, to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. As I go along, I'll explain what I mean by that in more detail, but it's not just so we can say, well, I love Jesus and I commit my life to Him. That wouldn't really say anything. That would be an emotional response, perhaps, to some kind of a salvation sermon or invitation at the end of a sermon or whatever. But we need to have, if we want to have a sound understanding of what it means to be saved, we have to start at the beginning. And again, God is who He says He is, and we have the duty to obey Him and serve Him. So we'll come back and move on from there a little bit further in our next episode. Thanks for watching, and we'll see you next time as we continue to think about salvation.
