Hello, Faith-Based Family, I'm Isaac McGemsey. And I am Jackie McGemsey. And we're doing our third installment on prayer. This is our final one. We've talked about prayer from many aspects, but today we want to talk about the power of prayer. You know, prayer is a powerful tool that God has given us, not only to connect with him, but to encourage us. And so, you know, I got a question for you. Have you ever wondered how prayer works, Jackie? Most definitely. I think we all have wondered how it works. I think it came up to me most when we had our child. He is now 24 at the time when he was four. He was diagnosed with autism. And, you know, we knew something was wrong. We just didn't know exactly what it was. And so, you know, we began to pray about it. God, just tell us, help us to help our child. What do we need to do? Where do we need to go? How does this need to happen? And just through some miraculous things, we met some awesome people. And I do believe it was God-led and God-directed. But he's 24 now. He graduated from college and he's doing well. You know, they told us he would never read, never write, and never, we had to be institutionalized by the time he was 12. And none of that happened. And I know that that was through prayer. But it all came about was how do we make our prayers more effective? That was our biggest question. You know, the scripture gives us a great guidance in this area because we don't always get what we pray for. And so, you know, what's the point of prayer? Is it just to get what we want? Or is it to get the answers we want? Or is it to draw us closer to God? It's all a little bit of all of it. But 1 John 5, 14 and 15 says, this confidence we have in approaching God, that if we ask anything that is according to his will, that we know that we have confidence, that number one, he hears us. And if he hears us, we know that we have what we ask from him. So the key in all that is number one, God hears us. And number two, I think is important. Are we praying the will of God? And sometimes it can be hard to figure out what is the will of God. And so that's why we need to read our Bibles. We need to be in fellowship with other believers. We need to be talking with people with wisdom. It's hard to know the will of God, but through prayer, prayer is the one key that unlocks the door that helps us find out what the will of God is. Well, that was beautiful, Ossie. Thank you. And thank you all for joining us here today on Faith Base. See you next time.
