Your gifts day five. The beans or the background. Each of us are gifted with specific abilities and talents and as you can imagine when all of these gifts and talents come together, members of the body of Christ working together, that is when we function the best. This study is designed to introduce you to some of the spiritual gifts listed in the Bible and hopefully as you learn a little more about them you'll be able to identify your own strengths. When we know our gifts and begin to use them well, that is when our faith truly opens up and we begin to see a major difference in our hearts and lives and in the lives of those around us. The verse Matthew chapter 28 verses 19 through 20. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age. The Phil. What's the point? Today's spiritual truth is teaching. Yesterday as we looked at encouragement, I reminded us that none of us are blessed with all the gifts listed in Scripture. That is the beauty of the body of believers. Today that is extremely true as Scripture also highlights, not many were given the gift to teach. I can almost hear the sighs of relief. Teaching about Scripture is really difficult so relax. Unless you feel God drawing you to it, most of us were not called to seminary. However, I do think we are charged with the task of directing all people to Jesus. Earlier this week I shared the old famous song, This Little Light of Mine, that whether we realize it or not, when someone knows that you are a follower of Jesus, they see you, they see him through you and your actions. As friends and even strangers begin to feel comfortable with you, there is a chance you'll get a question or two about your faith. This is the perfect opportunity to organically, not waving a Bible in anybody's face, but to naturally share the gospel. One critical mistake that I believe some people make is being fake, trying to present this picture-perfect exterior because they are Christians. Since all of us are flawed, this air of perfection some try to display causes many to consider the church to be extremely hypocritical. If we were all just honest and said, look I am a mess in progress. I screw up daily because you know what, that is life and it is hard. But I draw strength and peace from my relationship with Jesus. My relationship with him is not perfect either. I fall away, I ignore him and forget to pray, but my life is far greater within his presence. That is what grace is all about. Being a disciple of Jesus seems much more doable when you think about it that way. Esteem. What does this mean to me and how can I apply it to my life today? To help you identify what your spiritual gifts are, there are several tools and tests you can take online for free. Or to help you begin thinking about it, I encourage you to spend the course of this study reflecting on the following questions. Number one, what do you enjoy doing? Number two, when you hear about people helping others, do you feel drawn to specific stories about children, those living in poverty, racial equality, or something else? Number three, ask someone who knows you well what gifts they see in you. What do they think you are the best at?
