Hey Faith-Based Family, blessings to you today. Hope this video finds you well. Today I had a funny flashback. I remember when my wife and I were serving in Central America, we had established a really sweet relationship with a small school called the Mountain School. It's at the top of this long dirt road and we had worked hard to develop the right to actually share Bible stories and spend time with them and teach them other subjects as well. But my wife had the great idea to make gingerbread houses with these kids. We thought this would be a great idea. We made icing, we had candy, we had graham crackers, and we got there and we spread it all out and gave them their plates and lots of, oh, sprinkles and anything you could imagine. And they just sat there just confused. We explained it over and over again. See, in their minds they had no concept of a gingerbread house. It wasn't something they'd ever seen before. It wasn't something they'd ever done before. And they just had this look of like such disorientation on their face. And those sweet little kids, they ended up enjoying it. They ended up making a huge mess which was fun and eating it all. But I say that to say there's this story in Luke chapter 7, and I think it's really a story of love but also disorientation. So there's a woman who's referred to as a sinful woman, and it says that when she found out that Jesus was at Simon the Pharisee's house, well then she went and she she wept over Jesus' feet and dried his feet with her hair, anointed his feet with anointment. But that part, when she found out. So what that tells me is that she had had a previous encounter with Jesus, and in my mind I visualize it in a way where she heard of this extravagant love, this beautiful gift of forgiveness, and she was disoriented because the love is so great that she didn't even know how to respond. But as she processed, as she waded through it, she just felt a deep sense of love and gratitude. And so she found out where Jesus was, and she went and she expressed her love and her affection by washing his feet and anointing them. And I say that to us, is that his love is so rich and immense that as we catch a glimpse of it, it can be disorienting. One of my favorite verses is 1st John 3 1, and in the NIV it says that God has lavished us with his love. Isn't that such rich language? You've been lavished with his love today. I pray that the Spirit allows us to see it in such a way that we're in such awe that we're even disoriented. Don't even know how to respond. As we process, all we can do is overflow with gratitude and love and praise. Blessings to you today. May the Lord just reveal his love to you in greater and greater ways. Have a great day.
