Thinking about the Bible this morning, thinking about love. Yesterday we looked at the fact that love keeps no record of wrong, no record of being wrong, I should say. And we're continuing in 1 Corinthians 13, now verse 6a. Love does not rejoice about injustice or about evil. And what we see here is that love is not interested in evil befalling another person. In other words, it doesn't hope for that. It doesn't rejoice when someone else has something bad happen to them or when an injustice is done to them, whether it be in the court of law or anything else. Because we can see injustice on a daily basis out in the world. And so love does not rejoice when someone has something bad happen to them that is unjust, that is evil. That's what the scripture is actually talking about. This can be, again, with those that are close to us, our loved ones, spouse, wife, you know, whatever, children, parents, I guess spouse and wife in my case would be the same thing. But my point is going to be this, is that again we're talking about loving humanity. And it is really easy for us to not be loving towards those who we really don't know at all, know about perhaps. And we think, well they got their just rewards when something happens bad to another person. But that is not how we should be thinking. Now I'm not talking about the appropriate justice of the courts when the law is followed and people actually pay the consequences for breaking the law. That's another issue. But even there we need to be careful about how we think about that. We want to be loving and we can be loving even as we express support for the rule of law in our society. That's something that we should have. What I'm talking about is folks, when we maybe see on the news or something, someone who suffers a wrong, suffers an injustice, and we think, well they deserve that. That's not loving. Love does not rejoice about injustice. Love does not rejoice about evil befalling another person. For one thing, we don't know all the circumstance. We don't know all the situation, all the details there. But even if we do, we cannot rejoice in evil befalling another person, even if we think they deserve it. It doesn't matter. Our thoughts on that subject really don't enter in here. So today, think about love. Think about how maybe we have thought of another person's circumstance with joy as we think, oh they got just what they deserve. Thinking about love would mean that we do not rejoice about injustice. We do not rejoice about evil befalling another person. Think about that today as you continue to think about love. God bless you. I'll see you again tomorrow.
