Have you ever seen images of a volcano that is just just barely active? There's not lava spewing everywhere but what you see are maybe some cracks in the earth and steam rising up and every once in a while you see puffs and wisps of smoke flying into the air. This is what the last few days of us looking at what is not love has been like. We're thinking of rudeness, we're thinking of self-centeredness. We're talking about today love is not irritable or as the NIV puts it, love is not easily angered. I think those are good synonyms for it for one another. This is just another way that the internal impacts the external and we cannot isolate the internal and the external. It comes out, right? Maybe it's just a little puff of smoke but as we'll get later into this passage it could be more damaging to the people around us. Irritability, being easy to anger, we have to consider that and look deeper. What is happening underneath the surface in those places? Paul says and it kind of seems like he's working internal to external so envy and boasting and pridefulness give way to these other anti-loves, right? What is it in particular that you see irritability in your life, that you see quick to anger? This is an important part of understanding what love is in our life, in your specific life, not mine. Mine's gonna be different than yours, than your neighbor, than your co-worker and your wife or your husband. It's gonna be different. It's gonna be different for your pastor too. He's got his things, you've got yours. What is it for you? And those are the places where Christ wants to transform you. We use these, we open up to these to help help let Christ in to the dark places of our lives that sometimes we can't even see but you know what? There are signs and indicators and these little little puffs, these are good indicators. Pay attention to these, lean in. It's a few more days we're gonna be talking about love. Peace.
