Hey everybody, I hope you're doing well and I want to just kind of bring our attention to some of the big picture pieces here we've been really zeroing in on what love is and what love is not. And I think we've got to really think about like, are there common themes here? Love is not boastful or proud or envious or rude. Really, all of those things are pointing our attention and our focus back on ourselves. And we've got to really become aware of that. This next line is love is not self-seeking. This is the, the NIV version that the ESV says love does not insist on its own way or the new living says demand its own way. That's, that's all about me and what I have going on, right? And if we are only focused on that, then we are not loving the others around us, whether that's coworkers. I don't know what kind of work environment you have, but we can't work alongside others and just insist on our own way. That is not what Christ calls us to. That's not what his love looks like. Neither does that represent the way the church is supposed to operate. And I can't tell you how many horror stories I've heard about people insisting that church happens their way, whether that's the building project or theological stances or worship, or, you know, pick your poison on this one, folks. Love is not self seeking. In fact, John 15, 13, Jesus says, greater love has no one than this, that they lay down their life for their friends. The first John, uh, the apostle John reiterates himself and Jesus. Uh, and he says, Jesus is the one who showed us what love truly looks like. He laid down his life for his friends. Jesus did this. He paid the ultimate price and the ultimate sacrifice and gave it up, not for himself, but for you and for me. Consider this today. Where in your life are you really just wanting it to go your way? Pray through this. Peace.
