Hey everybody. Hope you're doing well today. I'm sure you're looking amazing. Uh, you know, today is our first official day in our new series. What is love? And we're going to start in first Corinthians 13 for, and you know, probably how this verse starts. Love is patient. What does that mean? What does it mean when we extend patience to someone else? I think we're giving them a little bit of extra space to get done what they need to get done. Maybe it might be fair to say, love is slow. It takes time. You know, Elizabeth Taylor has this pretty, I think poignant quote, and I think it's going to relate to us, our conversation a little bit later. She says, it is very strange that the years teach us patience, the shorter our time, the greater our capacity for waiting. I think that's wisdom beyond her years and even understanding of who God is. I think we see God be incredibly patient with us. I know people give the old Testament picture of God, um, flack a lot of times for being vengeful or wrathful, uh, delivering punishment over and over. But so much of the old Testament is God giving the nation of Israel chance after chance, after chance and years and decades. And sometimes in certain cases, even hundreds of years to get it right, to turn back around and follow him in the way that he called them to do that. And the covenant relationship that he made with them. God is slow to anger, abounding in love, great in compassion, right? This is how the Psalmists talk about him. Uh, read below. You can see Psalm 103, Psalm 145. They all point to God who is slow to anger. Jesus was slow to anger. That's a whole nother conversation, but he was never off the cuff. It was always very intentional. The ways that he responded, um, and the kind of anger he had that was completely righteous. Again, another conversation, but love is patient. Love is, is slow. And our God exhibits that all the time. Even with you, God is patient with you. He's, he's waiting for you, uh, to turn, to recognize him. Uh, to turn, to recognize him, to see him for who he is. Be open to him today and his patience with you. God bless.
