Hey folks, glad you made it today. This is our last day on the Lord's Prayer, Luke 11, and the last line of the prayer says, and lead us not into temptation. Okay, well, that's, that's good. But is there an occasion where God would lead us into temptation like I don't, that's where my mind has always gone and it's been a little bit confusing, but I don't think that that's what Jesus is saying here. In fact, I know that's not what Jesus is saying here because James 1, 13 through 15, we'll talk about it tomorrow, gives us a really clear picture of, of temptation. In fact, he says, God cannot be a part of this at all. So God doesn't do that. That's not how he operates. Might he challenge us? Might he give us answers that are confusing and when we're figuring out his will don't make sense to us? Sure. But he doesn't lead us into temptation. No. I think what Jesus is saying here is, God, lead me away from anything that might cause me to be tempted. Lead me away from all of those things. Here's a short article that was really helpful to me as I was thinking about and reflecting, reflecting on this and researching it, I'll post it below. But in the same way that, that the line before us in the prayer, it says, forgive us as we forgive others, invites us to look deeper into our own life. How am I forgiving others? This is also asking us to be reflective. What ways am I tempted? Is it friends that lead me into temptation? Is it coworkers who lead me into temptation? Whatever is tempting to you, is it driving down the wrong street? Is it walking down the wrong aisle at the grocery store? Is it visiting that wrong website or just social media in general? We can lead to a host of temptations, right? What, what is it? Can we be aware of what's leading us to temptation and can we say, God, don't let anything get in the way of, of my relationship with you. This prayer is full circle. The beginning, it's about intimacy with father and at the end it's Lord, don't let anything get in the way of that intimacy. This prayer is about connection with God and close connection with God.
