In Luke 11 1 through 2 the disciples go to Jesus and they say teach us to pray and Jesus says this is how we do it. Father, Daddy, Holy be your name. I love this image of Jesus's invitation first to intimacy with God. Father, Daddy, all right then he says Holy be your name and at first that might seem like it's not an intimate phrase or maybe kind of dichotomy between intimacy you know Daddy and and Holy be your name like set apart totally different from me but I think these are connected I think God is both right he's both our daddy he wants to be close to us and he's totally different and separate from us beyond our comprehension sometimes I think we can fall into one category or the other are we kind of aligned do we mostly think of God is this friendly buddy buddy God or maybe we sometimes fall too much on the he's only holy and he's so different for me I can't understand him he expects so much of me that I you know I can't measure up to whatever that might be God is so distant from me that I can't really even think of him as as father or dad where do you fall check the pole pick one maybe it's both and that's great I think that's God's heart that we're there especially when we're in prayer is that we can hold God in all of who he is as much as possible because he really is beyond our comprehension and yet he's so close and that's what the rest of this prayer is about check the rest of this week for the rest of this prayer
