Let's bring our attention to God's promise to be the foundation of our lives.
Hope
Faith
Encouragement
Suffering

Good morning, everybody. I wanted to extend a little bit off my last video. We talked about struggles and suffering, but I want to bring your attention to God's promise when we find ourselves in that environment, in those moments of struggle, in those moments of tribulation, and I want to bring your attention to Hebrews 6, 17 through 20. And what it says is, because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. What is Paul saying in this? What does he refer to that is firm and secure? Hope is what? It's an anchor. And what is that hope? What is our anchor? It's Jesus Christ. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. What is he saying there? He's saying that Jesus is ushering us into God's presence. Because he paid the price for us, because he sacrificed himself for us and died on the cross, we have the ability to walk behind him into the presence of God who is the secure anchor which is firm and secure for our soul. When you think about an anchor, how is an anchor utilized? When a boat finds itself in this storm, the sea, the waves are crashing around it, it's raining, there's wind, everything is in chaos, what does a boat crew do? They throw the anchor out. And what does the anchor do? Does it make the storm go away? No. Does it make the wind die down and the waves stop and the rain stop? No. What does it do? It holds the boat secure. Even though we're rocking, even though we're moving, that boat is secure. It's firm. When we find ourselves in these sufferings, we have a choice to make. Either we take faith in who God is, either we have faith in who we believe the Bible says that God is, which Hebrews 6, 17 through 20 just told us, he is a secure, firm anchor for our soul. Either we have faith in that or we don't. Either God is who he is or he isn't. Either we believe what the Bible says about God or we don't. So I ask you one question when you find yourself in these sufferings and these struggles. Can you keep your faith in a good God even when your life isn't? We aren't promised a great day. We aren't promised rainbows and sunshine and lollipops. What we're promised is a life of suffering and struggle when it comes to following God. But what the Bible also tells us is through him we can get through anything. So where's your faith? Where's your focus? Where is your heart at through these trials and these tribulations? Are you centered on your anchor that is firm and secure for the soul, Jesus Christ? Or are you so concentrated on the world? Can you have faith in a good God even when your life isn't? I challenge you to find yourself in these moments and ask yourself that question and be honest with yourself. And if not, secure your firm foundation in Christ. Stay frosty, mis amigos, and never forget, Jesus loves you.
