Hey, good morning everybody. I'm not sure where you're at, but it's getting kind of cold here, so I got a sweater on this morning. As we start our study of Psalms 23, David starts off with one of the most important statements that we can understand as believers. He begins by saying, the Lord is my shepherd. And a lot of times we'll skip past that part and get on to the wants and the needs and the guiding and all the other stuff, the stuff that the shepherd does for the sheep, and we're gonna get there. We're gonna talk about all those things because it's an intimate part of our relationship with God, but we need to understand that the foundation of that is that the Lord, meaning the Creator, the God of the universe, the one that with the breath of his mouth spoke everything into existence. Everything there was, everything there is, and everything there ever will be, our shepherd spoke it into existence. And that is such a comforting truth to know that no matter what I go through in this life, no matter what this world throws at me, and it is a fallen world, and it's going to throw a lot of stuff at you, that it's not up to your strength to handle it. It's not up to your intellect, it's not up to your ability, to your talent, because you are not your shepherd. The Lord is your shepherd. And a shepherd was so important to his sheep. Not only did he feed the sheep, he took care of the sheep, he guided the sheep, he provided everything that sheep needed to be able to live a life, not just of comfort, man, we had to think past a life of just comfort, but a life that actually leaves a legacy for those behind us. Then we have a shepherd that actually cares enough about us, but we have a God that actually cares enough about us, a creator that cares enough about us, that he becomes our shepherd, that he chooses of his free will to guide us, to love us, to be there for us. So the very first thing David says is, the Lord is my shepherd, not my church, definitely not a preacher, not my denomination, not some priest, not a government, not a political party, none of those things, all those things will fail. The only thing that's going to last forever is our great shepherd. So I want to encourage you today, know that you have a great shepherd, that the one who guides you, the one who wants to be able to be an intimate part of your life, is the same one that created the world. So the Lord is your shepherd today. Listen, God bless, have a great day. If there's anything I can do for you, shoot me a message, let me know. I love to be able to pray for you and your family. God bless, have a great day.
