I believe that God has given each of us a gift to be used for his glory, to build his church, to build his kingdom. He has given you a gift to be used. And oftentimes I think when it comes to stewarding that gift we think about developing it and nurturing it and taking care of it and making sure that it's not being neglected. And that's true. That's part of it. And I think that there's actually more to stewarding that gift as well. In 1st Peter 4 verse 10 Peter writes, each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various form. So we see that a result of stewarding that gift is that we're using it to serve others. And the key context here is that Peter's actually writing to a group of believers that are experiencing hostility. They're experiencing suffering and persecution for their faith in Jesus. And he's writing them to help give perspective on how to live through the suffering and how to support each other through the suffering. And he does so by encouraging them to use their gifts to serve others. And so my question for us today is, how are we using the gift God has given us and stewarding it in a way that we're serving others through their suffering? And that takes humility. That takes being led by the Holy Spirit. And I love that Peter continues on in verse 11. He says, if anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Christ Jesus. So not only does God give us a gift, but he gives us the strength that we need to serve others with that gift. So my prayer for you today is that you will continue stewarding the gift God has given you to serve others through his power and for his glory in Jesus name.
