We can approach God with confidence not because of who we are or what we've done but because of Jesus.

There have been times in my life where I've allowed shame and guilt to keep me from praying to God, to keep me from approaching Him with my needs. Times where I've completely lost confidence in my ability to pray. And not ability in the sense of being able to pray this beautiful and elegant prayer, but the ability as in, do I even have the right or the ability to pray right now? Does God want to hear from me or is He so frustrated with me that I don't even have the ability to pray? And we read in Hebrews chapter 4 verse 16, it says, let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. So we see that it is possible to approach God with confidence, but how? How is it possible for that? And the answer is right there in the passage before in verse 15. It says, for we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence. So we can approach God with confidence, not because of who we are or what we've done, but because of Jesus and who He is. He was tempted in every way, yet He did not sin. He's able to empathize with your weakness. He understands. So I pray that that encourages you today that rather than allowing our weaknesses to distance us from God, we can approach Him with confidence through Jesus, knowing that we will receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
