Faithbase

Good day, faith-based family. I hope all is well. As I'm driving into the office today, I wanted to talk to you really quick about prayer. I can't tell you how many people come to me and be like, Cliff, I just don't know how to pray. I don't know where to begin. I don't know what to say. And I can understand. You see, when I grew up, I grew up in a traditional Baptist church taught from the King James version. And so a lot of times when the pastor got ready to start praying, he would start by, where art thou? I used to look at my cousin and be like, I don't even know who art and thou is, let alone where they're at. You see, for some, prayer can be intimidating. And I wanted to, today, to squash any notions of prayer being intimidating or to dissolve any fears about prayer. You see, to think about prayer, it's just a conversation. It's a conversation with our loving, kind, and gentle father. And see, for me and my family, we begin every day in prayer. When we get in the car, getting ready to go to the store or taking the kids to school, we start off in prayer. And then of course, we pray over our meals. And at the end of the day, we pray together as a family. And prayer is just simply a conversation. And at the end of the night, sometimes when my wife and I, we pray together, we're sitting there and I'm probably telling God about his daughter and how she was bothering me for that day and how I need him to come down and bother her the way she be bothering me. Well, truthfully, it's probably the other way around. She's always telling God how I'm bothering her. That's probably more accurate. But I want you guys just to know that prayer is just a conversation. As I'm driving in to work or anytime I'm in the car and I'm sitting there talking to God, I'm actually just having a conversation, thanking him for all that he has done, thanking him for what he is doing right now and thanking him for what he may do in the future and helping me through any trials and tribulations that I may have faced. Thank him for being right there through it all. And then ask God for what you want that's on your heart that will help you be better, help others around you be better, to help you through certain circumstances, to give you the confidence and courage. So I want today to encourage you, to encourage you that just start by saying, good morning, God. Start by saying, I am grateful for you, God. It is simply a conversation between you and your father. It's like talking to a good friend or talking to a loving parent. Just start the conversation and he'll do the rest. All right. I hope you guys have a wonderful day. Talk to you soon.
