Wedding in Cana, when Jesus turned water into wine.

Hey friends, so I am coming to you live from the baseball field inside of my car. So please just ignore the mess of my hair, but I wanted to go ahead and share one of the passages from The Chosen that just really, really, really speaks volumes to me. So in the fifth episode, we get to the part where there is a wedding in Cana and yes, that is where Jesus turns water into wine, one of our cultural favorite stories and definitely one of mine. And so one thing that I've always just been curious about as to why he would do that. First of all, Jesus was born into a day and time where weddings lasted for days. Like it was just party, hearty all the like a week, multiple days. And he was born into a shame and honor culture. We tend to think of things as right or wrong. They thought of things as honor or shame. And so for the bride's family who puts on this massive wedding to run out of wine would bring shame upon their family in massive ways. So the fact that Jesus is able to perform this miracle is not just a, okay, like magic wand, woo. It literally was a beautiful example of the fact that God wanted to restore the honor of this family or not restore, prevent it from needing restoration. And so one thing that friends of mine and I love to talk about is, is there anything too trivial? Now we just discussed that the turning the water to wine was a pretty big deal in Jesus's day and time, but let's just pretend it wasn't. Let's just pretend he came and like, does he worry about you and the little things in your life? And he does. And there was a quote by Charles Spurgeon, which I thought was, I'm definitely going to butcher it. And I don't, it's in my phone, so I can't look it up while I'm also filming. But he said, if we can expect Jesus to perform miracles that are supernatural like that, we better expect that he can do it again. And so he cares about the little parts and details of our lives. So often when we go to pray, I tend to get tripped up into thinking of, huh, I can't believe that I am praying about this silly thing when, you know, the world is falling apart in other parts of the world. People are starving. There's war, all of these things. Does he really like, I don't want to put one more thing on his plate, but he's supernatural. He's not like us. Thank goodness. He is not a burned out dad spinning a billion plates in the air at the same time. He doesn't have to divide his attention and time and thoughts and love. He just is. Such a beautiful blessing.
