Finding Joy, Day 7. The Beans, or the Background. King Solomon was a king in the Old Testament days. He is known as one of the brightest minds in human history, and it's strongly supported that the book of Ecclesiastes, which was written by King Solomon, as he pondered the meaning of life. Many profound and thoughtful reflections are found in the book that we're going to be looking at in part today. The verse. Ecclesiastes, chapter 8, verse 15. So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of their life that God has given them under the sun. Esteem. What does this mean to me, and how can I apply it to my life today? Friend, you are allowed to play. You are allowed and encouraged to have fun. God gives you the ability to run, jump, and laugh. God places people we enjoy spending time with in our lives for us to enjoy life's activities together. God blesses us with gifts, talents, interests, passions, and excitement for us not just to use in work, but also to enjoy hobbies and things just for fun. Don't waste those gifts. Work and the stresses of life will always be there, which is why it is vitally important that we are intentional about taking the time to just relax, have fun, and just play. These times of lighthearted fun and enjoyment are meant to rejuvenate us and fill us with joy so that we're able to make it through the grind of the work week. So ask yourself, do you intentionally spend time just enjoying life and playing? Make plans, schedule it on your calendar, to get out and have fun sometime today or this coming weekend.
