Finding Joy, Day 5 The Beans, or the Background Paul wrote a letter to the church in Rome to encourage the believers there. As in many of his letters, he tries to impress upon them the important truth that we are saved by the grace of Jesus' death on the cross and not by anything we could ever do or not do. The Verse Romans 5, verse 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Esteem. What does this mean to me and how can I apply it to my life today? My apologies in advance if you're not a cat or dog person, but I just couldn't help but use this analogy for today. Knowing that we are cherished, loved, and desired brings immense joy to our daily lives. You could be having the absolute worst day ever, but you've got that sweet puppy at home waiting to greet you and replace the harsh day's stress with absolute joy. Because that pup makes you feel like the best thing in the entire world. Okay. Again, this may sound silly to some, but to my fellow dog and even cat lovers out there, this image completely resonates. Now for the good news. Every single time you approach God in prayer, every single time you open your Bible, every single time you choose to listen to a Christian song in the car or a podcast or a sermon at church, God in heaven is exactly like that overly excited pup. He jumps for joy to hear from you, his beloved, cherished child. For various reasons, we sometimes get turned off by this image of God as a dictator passing out judgment and harsh punishment, but it's so we sometimes think it's better to stay small and try to go unnoticed. But friends, nothing could be further from the truth. Your heavenly Father delights in you more than you could possibly imagine and all he wants is to flood your day with joy as he reminds you of just how cherished and loved you are.
