Finding Joy, Day Three, The Beings, or the Background. The Book of Lamentations was written at the end of an extremely difficult time in Israel's history. Lamentations is a book of lament for what had been lost when Jerusalem was captured and fell. Jeremiah, who was most likely the author, sought to answer how it is that someone can maintain faith in God in the midst of great struggle. The verse, Lamentations chapter three, verses 22 through 23, because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. This team, what does this mean to me and how can I apply it to my life today? Sadly, we are going to know hardships and struggles in this life. They are inevitable and it's in those times, those hard times, that I cling to the truth from today's verse. God's love will never fail and he promises to pour that love over you each and every morning. There is something about morning that fills my heart with hope. I guess it's that I'm reminded that each day is a gift and a fresh start. I'm a positivity junkie, so give me all the cliche sayings about today being the first day of the rest of my life. So, I've come to ask myself each morning how it is that I'm going to make today worthwhile. I change that quote to a question. What are you going to do today that makes the rest of your life exciting, joyful, and meaningful? Sister, you woke up. You have air in your lungs. You were given the gift of today. So, don't waste this beautiful day on pointless things that are holding you back. Choose happiness instead. Make a commitment to yourself to cherish today and each day moving forward. Start the habit of beginning your days with a thankful heart. Meditate on good, joyful things as you begin your day, and that's exactly what the transition section below is designed to help you do.
