Finding Joy, Day Two The beans, or the background. Paul wrote a letter to the people in the Corinthian church. In that letter, he encourages them to use their gifts that God has given them, but reminds them that love is necessary for the proper management of any gift. Love is the underlying source that makes it possible for us to do any good work. The verse, 1 Corinthians chapter 13, verses 4-8 Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast. It is not proud. It does not dishonor others. It is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects. Always trusts. Always hopes. Always perseveres. Love never fails. The steam. What does this mean to me, and how can I apply it to my life today? Love is a beautiful gift from God, and I'm not just talking about romantic love today. We all feel and express love to others from a very early age. Furthermore, God places many wonderful people in our lives who show us love, and that we are called to love in return. Think about your people. Who has God placed in your life for special purposes? Think about how well they love you, and how much they mean to you in return. As you pause to do this, you'll begin to feel joy growing from the depths of your heart. But, if you really want to feel joy today, I encourage you to go out there and express your love to someone else. It is amazing what focusing on others can do for your heart. When we love wholeheartedly, as 1 Corinthians 13 outlines, blessings, joy, and love certainly will flow into the lives of those around us, but that joy also spills over into your day and your life as well. Get outside of yourself today. Share love with the people you come in contact with, and I guarantee you, your heart will overflow with joy.
